Happy 2007!
This is going to be an exciting year for our organization. I thank you for your support and I’m looking forward to serving as your new BJASC president. It’s an awesome task and I am honored by your faith in me.
BJASC has such a revered, award-winning legacy. For more than 25 years, it has fostered professional development and provided an important forum for community involvement in greater Los Angeles, especially on issues of importance to African Americans.
We’ve given away money to needy college kids — myself included! We’ve brought some of the biggest names to town and hosted some of the grandest awards galas. We even put together one of NABJ’s most memorable and well-attended national conventions– the first one ever on the West Coast, I might add.
And now, in 2007, the mission continues.
We kicked off the new year with a bang — a one-on-one discussion with the new superintendent for LAUSD, Admiral David Brewer. And we won’t stop there. Our new board is already hard at work developing new programs to benefit YOU — our loyal, dedicated members. And we hope you will join us to keep the BJASC legacy going and being advocates for each other and the larger community that we serve.
So keep checking back here and your mailbox to see what’s going on. You won’t want to miss a minute of it.
Remember, BJASC is working for you!
Peace
Lisa
